Society for Clinical Research Sites Welcomes the Nomination of Dr. Robert Califf as FDA Commissioner
Ellicott City, M.D., October 5, 2015 – Christine Pierre, President of the Society for Clinical Research Sites (SCRS), today issued the following statement on President Barack Obama’s Sept. 15 nomination of Dr. Robert Califf to serve as the next Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration:
“SCRS welcomes the nomination of Dr. Califf as FDA Commissioner. Rob has worked closely with SCRS on many initiatives including being a member of SCRS’ Leadership Council and also on many projects through the Clinical Trials Transformation Initiative. His extensive experience and commitment to the ethical and efficient process needed to conduct research will be an invaluable foundation for him to bring to this new role. Rob’s vast experience and unwavering commitment to bringing safe and effective new treatments to patients will greatly benefit the agency and the general public.”
