A New Chapter in a Longstanding Partnership: SCRS Supports David Vulcano’s Transition to ACRP CEO

May 5, 2026

May 5, 2026 – The Society for Clinical Research Sites (SCRS) congratulates David Vulcano on his appointment as CEO of the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP).  At the invitation of SCRS Founder Christine Pierre, David joined the SCRS Leadership Council in 2015 and has served as Honorary President since 2021. In these roles, he has initiated, inspired, and led numerous efforts leading to fundamental changes benefiting site and study sustainability all over the globe.

David has brought the industry together through SCRS on common goals of site quality and industry standards. David notes, “Site success depends on the full ecosystem — the quality and preparedness of everyone involved in research, from site staff to monitors to project managers. SCRS has always understood that, and it’s exactly the kind of thinking I’m carrying into this next chapter.”

“David’s public efforts to SCRS only tell part of the story; his behind-the-scenes leadership has driven an extraordinary amount of progress that often goes unseen,” said Allyson Small, Chief Operating Officer of SCRS. “Research sites around the world are in a stronger position today because of David’s dedication, and we are thrilled to continue partnering with him in his new role.”

“With a sharp understanding of site community needs and Site Landscape Survey data, David’s leadership and contributions have shaped some of SCRS’s most important resources,” commented Jimmy Bechtel, SCRS’s Chief Site Success Officer. Some examples include the development of the Workforce & Inflation Toolkit, Cybersecurity Guide, and Invoiceables Toolkit, along with advocating on behalf of sites on public policy, record retention, and technology training reduction. “SCRS looks forward to continuing to work with David in his new capacity to develop more valuable resources for the site community,” Bechtel added.

SCRS congratulates David on this well-deserved appointment, and remains committed to collaborating to advance the shared goal of a stronger, more resilient site community worldwide. In his new role, David’s passion for advancing site sustainability and industry collaboration will continue to positively impact the broader clinical research community.
