FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hanover, MD, October 15, 2019 – The Society for Clinical Research Sites (SCRS) announced today that David Vulcano, vice president of research compliance and integrity for HCA Healthcare, has been awarded the inaugural Christine K. Pierre (CKP) Site Impact Award at the 2019 Global Site Solutions Summit.
SCRS founder, Christine Pierre, was an industry leader in the site arena who dedicated almost three decades of her life to advancing the work and voice of clinical research sites. With this passion and vision, she conceptualized the first Site Solutions Summit in 2006 and founded SCRS in 2012. In early 2017, Christine was diagnosed with ocular melanoma. She entered a number of clinical trials which afforded her more time with loved ones until her passing on October 23, 2018.
In honor of her work and life, SCRS conceptualized the CKP Site Impact Award to recognize an industry leader who has made an extraordinary contribution to furthering the voice of the clinical research site community. David Vulcano was selected as the recipient of the inaugural award. Through his actions and innovation, David has exemplified the mission of SCRS to unify the voice of the global clinical research site community for greater site sustainability and has upheld the pillars of SCRS by supporting the education, advocacy, mentorship and connection of clinical research sites.
“As a long-standing SCRS member with active involvement in several SCRS committees, David Vulcano has demonstrated steadfast dedication to improving the clinical research site community,” said SCRS president, Casey Orvin. “Through his contribution to numerous industry associations, boards, initiatives and publications, he has aligned himself as a change agent within the clinical research site landscape. Congratulations to David for being the well-deserving recipient of the first-ever CKP Site Impact Award.”
The CKP Site Impact Award will be awarded annually at the Global Site Solutions Summit to one esteemed innovator within the site industry.
