SCRS Webinar Process Overview

Before the Webinar

SCRS will send you a reminder 4 weeks before the webinar to complete your slides and forms.

Your materials, including financial disclosure and speaker release forms, are due two (2) weeks before the webinar.

Designate one webinar panelist to fill out and sign one ANCC Planning Form for the session. This document will be sent for signature via Dropbox Sign.

Preparation

SCRS ensures smooth preparation by starting webinars 30 minutes early for speakers to set up and troubleshoot. If desired, sessions can be scheduled earlier upon request to accommodate specific needs and questions. You can try out a number of options for delivering your content: sharing the screen, a browser tab, or a specific window.

Marketing

Webinars are promoted on the SCRS website, social media channels (LinkedIn/Facebook), email database and member community. A graphic is made for each webinar and will be sent to you. The graphic is also available to download via your webinar registration link in the SCRS Member Portal.

Accessing the Webinar

SCRS facilitates easy access to the webinar by adding speakers as presenters and promptly sharing the corresponding join link. Participants can join at the start time by following a link sent via email.

Activate and set up your account in the SCRS Member Portal, Tradewing, before the webinar. Your Tradewing profile will be linked in the webinar, so we highly recommend uploading your headshot and bio so attendees can learn more about you.

During the Webinar

Introductions: SCRS begins the webinar with our standard introduction and then transfers the platform control to you, the speakers. During this phase, all speakers should introduce themselves, highlighting their expertise relevant to the content.

The financial disclosure slide at the beginning of the deck is necessary for ANCC compliance, but speakers are not required to read it aloud.

Attendee Chat and Polling: During your presentation, all participants can view chat messages (which are not anonymous) encouraging interaction among attendees. If you wish to poll the audience, you can use a third-party polling service, or include a polling slide and solicit answers in the chat.

Webinar Length: Aim to deliver your content within 50 minutes of the allocated 60-minute session, but do not fall below 45 minutes – we issue contact hours for these sessions which many of our members rely on! Please practice and time your session in advance to ensure it encompasses at least 45 minutes of content.

After the Webinar

SCRS concludes the webinar by providing a standard closing statement. If you wish, your presentation will be followed by Q&A.

SCRS will provide an attendee list upon request.  If available, you will receive a list with attendee names, title, and company/organization. Attendee email addresses will also be provided if they have opted in to do so.

Content Guidelines

Please use the attached slide template.

Prepare at least 2 slides highlighting your learning objectives and key takeaways.

Slides must remain free from any logos, promotional material, or bias to adhere to presentation guidelines. Otherwise, your slides will be rejected by ANCC and you may not be able to utilize your slides.

Formatting Guidelines:

  • Avoid dense paragraphs and instead use concise bullet points, keywords, or visuals. Your slides should complement your spoken content, not replicate it.
  • Keep bullets to a minimum (3-4 points per slide) to avoid overwhelming the audience.
  • Incorporate images, diagrams, charts, and infographics to illustrate key points. Visuals can help convey complex information more effectively and keep the audience engaged.
  • Utilize titles for all slides.
  • Minimize animations.

Speaker Tips

  • It is strongly recommended that presenters are on video for enhanced engagement with the audience.
  • Be mindful of maintaining a professional background.
  • If you have multiple presenters, consider designating a single individual to be responsible for managing everyone’s slides to minimize potential disruptions.
  • Remember that any notifications appearing on a shared screen will be visible to all participants.
  • If doing a Q&A, you should anticipate the possibility of limited participant questions and have self-generated questions prepared to stimulate Q&A discussions (e.g., “A question I’m often asked is…”).
