October 17, 2022 – The Society for Clinical Research Sites (SCRS) is pleased to announce the 2022 recipients of the prestigious SCRS Eagle Award: Merck as the sponsor recipient and the PPD clinical research business of Thermo Fisher Scientific as the clinical research organization (CRO) recipient.
The Eagle Award, sponsored in 2022 by Advarra, has been awarded annually since 2009 to recognize a sponsor and CRO most dedicated to outstanding leadership, professionalism, integrity, operational excellence and a commitment to advancing the clinical research profession through strong site partnerships. The SCRS community celebrated the work and progress of these organizations and the other finalists at the 2022 Global Site Solutions Summit, with more than 1,200 clinical research stakeholders in attendance. Eagle Award nominees, finalists and recipients are selected by clinical research sites around the world.
Andy Lee, Senior Vice President and Head, Global Clinical Trial Operations at Merck commented, “Receiving the Eagle Award during these challenging times truly recognizes our strong collaboration with our clinical research site colleagues. We’re proud of the dedication, commitment and enduring spirit of our people and site partners to our noble work to bring medicines to patients with unmet medical needs.”
“We are honored to be named an Eagle Award winner for the second consecutive year,” said David M. Johnston, Ph.D., Senior Vice President and President, Clinical Research, Thermo Fisher Scientific. “This prestigious award reflects our focus on supporting and connecting with our site partners, which in turn helps enable us to best serve our customers in pursuit of their clinical research initiatives. Our close relationships with research sites contribute to our ability to help deliver on the ambition we all share – helping deliver life-changing therapies to patients around the globe.”
Sean Soth, Vice President of Global Business Partnerships at SCRS added, “After nearly 4,000 votes by clinical research sites globally, SCRS is pleased to present the Eagle Award to both Merck and PPD. We are seeing exciting progress from many leading sponsor and CRO organizations in our community, many of whom were finalists as well. While change takes time, building reciprocal partnerships and delivering what sites need to improve study outcomes is what the spirit of the Eagle Award is all about. Congratulations to Merck and PPD!”
“Having supported sites, sponsors, and CROs for more than 20 years, Advarra is thrilled to celebrate successful site-centric collaborators and innovators,” said Laura Hilty, Vice President of Strategy at Advarra. “A common goal throughout the Site Solutions Summit has been addressing the burden of disparate technology systems on research sites. We believe integrating existing site and sponsor technology is the solution. We’ve already collaborated with many Eagle Award finalists and the sites that cast their votes, and it’s clear we’re headed toward a more seamless and connected ecosystem. On behalf of our team at Advarra, thank you and congratulations to the Eagle Award recipients and all those dedicated to improving operations for sites.”
