SCRS Releases White Paper: Patient Centricity and Virtualizing Technologies in a COVID-19 World

December 21, 2020
Contact: SCRS Communications Society for Clinical Research Sites 410.696.5080 communications@myscrs.org FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SCRS Releases White Paper: Patient Centricity and Virtualizing Technologies in a COVID-19 World Hanover, MD, December 21, 2020 – Today the Society for Clinical Research Sites (SCRS) in collaboration with Medidata, a Dassault Systèmes company, released a white paper “Patient Centricity and Virtualizing Technologies in a COVID-19 World.” The paper reports the results of a site survey conducted in the first half of 2020. Sites reported an eagerness to use new technology that would increase patient centricity and flexibility, but they also reported significant barriers. Site responses provide a guide to the barriers that need to be removed to make technology beneficial to patients and workable for sites. “We knew that sites saw the potential for these technologies and we had already heard some of the pain points,” said SCRS COO Allyson Small. “What this paper does is clarify the barriers that sites see both for themselves and their patients and provide a roadmap for technology companies, sponsors, and CROs to successfully integrate new technology solutions.” “Some of these patient-centric tools and technologies have been available for a number of years but there’s been a bit of reluctance to adopt new solutions until now,” said Jackie Kent, EVP of Product at Medidata. “We need to eliminate patient barriers to participation and lower the patient burden by decreasing the number of traditional site visits. A key finding in this research shows sites are most interested in expanding their solutions to include virtual trials, eConsent and telemedicine in the next two years, helping improve patient recruitment, retention and the overall patient experience.” A complimentary download of the white paper is available here. ### About SCRS Founded in 2012, SCRS is a global organization that unifies the voice of the clinical research site community to create greater site sustainability.
