FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ellicott City, MD, October 24, 2016 – American Health Network has won the Site Patient Enrollment Innovation Achievement (SPRIA) Award. This award recognizes a research site that has developed and implemented an innovative patient recruitment program. The award was given after the finalists presented their plans at the Global Site Solutions Summit and the judging panel determined the winner.
American Health Network developed a Clinical Trial Alert (CTA) system that works seamlessly with their common Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system to help with patient recruitment. The system provides the tools needed to conduct database searches and identify potential patients with a great deal of accuracy & efficiency. The CTA allows them to alert their providers in real time when patients meeting key inclusion and exclusion criteria are being seen in their office.
“We’re continually learning from our interaction with other sites at events like the Global Site Solutions Summit,” said Mary Schmoll, Director of Clinical Research, American Health Network. “We were privileged to be included in early development discussions on the clinical trial application we use. It is through this open dialogue that we all grow and improve. We’re honored to be recognized for what we’ve accomplished at our organization.”
“Seamless interactions between standard-of-care and research are becoming increasingly important, however, major burdens exist,” said Christine Pierre, President of SCRS. “American Health Network has developed their EMR to be an asset to research rather than a stumbling block. This will serve as an important model for other healthcare systems seeking solutions for the same pain points.”
