Sequoia trees are the largest and tallest tree species in the world, reaching heights of 350 feet or more. Imagine a tree the size of a 35-story building! You would think massive trees would have deep roots, but they don’t. They have a very shallow root system.

What keeps these mammoth trees upright is their connection with other Sequoia trees. Their roots entwine and keep them stable and able to withstand stormy winds, as well as support their growth. Each tree needs the network to stay alive and healthy. You will never see a huge Sequoia tree alone. Not ever.

Just like the Sequoia, SCRS is a community that is entwining our resources and reaching around the globe. We are celebrating 10 years of SCRS this year and we are so proud of how far we’ve come. SCRS was officially announced during the 7th annual Site Solutions Summit in 2012, starting with nearly 300 site members. Now, we are a community of nearly 10,000 sites across 47 countries. We can’t wait to see what the next chapter will bring and look forward to growing with all of you!

Although we are eager to reconnect with many of you in person, the recent surge of COVID-19 cases has impacted those plans for our upcoming Global Oncology Summit and European Summit. We have made the difficult decision to move these conferences to later in 2022. The Oncology Summit is now scheduled for May 21-22 and the European Summit will be November 14-15, 2022.

Additionally, we are excited to announce a new SCRS Summit this year… be on the lookout for an official announcement from us this month!

Welcoming in the new year often brings on positive change while establishing goals and setting a bar of higher standards. Every year SCRS’ number one resolution is to better serve our members. It is our priority to keep our community’s ever-changing needs the primary focus as we establish new ways to engage and support each and every one of you.

Moving forward into 2022, we hope you take advantage of the new and constantly evolving benefits that are offered to you. One of the most exciting announcements made as we closed out 2021 was the continuation of the Sites NOW program that was created in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic to supplement in-person Summit engagement of sites with sponsors, CROs and solution providers. Sites NOW offers a platform that focuses on site success through an array of essential presentations, collaborative discussions, and networking opportunities.

A new year often leads us to do a bit of housekeeping and organizing. We suggest you make it a priority this month to maximize your benefit usage moving forward. We encourage all of your team members to visit myscrs.org and create an individual account to link to your organization’s SCRS membership.
