February 2022

From the SCRS Team

The SCRS team is still beaming after attending the energetic SCOPE Summit. We had so much fun reconnecting with many of our sites and partners in person, and look forward to seeing you at more events in 2022!

Speaking of events, you may have seen the exciting announcement of the first-ever SCRS Diversity Site Solutions Summit. As the need for diversity in clinical trials grows, so does the need to share our collective knowledge to help the industry achieve its goals. The Diversity Summit will feature industry leaders sharing best practices and guidance to engage diverse populations as regulatory and sponsor directives require more inclusion of diverse populations in trials.  We hope you will join us in Austin, Texas this May for in-person, collaborative discussions surrounding this important industry-wide initiative.

Following the Diversity Summit, we are hosting the fourth annual Global Oncology Site Solutions Summit on May 21 & 22 at the same venue! Summit attendees who would like to participate in both conferences can do so by adding on either Summit to their registration at a discounted rate. We also encourage you to reserve your hotel room as soon as possible, as rooms will go quickly.

As SCRS reflects on all that we’ve accomplished since its inception 10 years ago, we want to celebrate the relationships we have cultivated with our incredible members and partners. The connections we’ve built with our community ignite our passion, and we sincerely thank you for your support!

We’ll See You at These Upcoming Events!

Feelin’ the Love: Making a Comeback by Coming Back Together

When we think of Valentine’s Day we think of connectedness, which is the primary purpose of why SCRS was founded. The pandemic may have kept us from seeing one another in person at our annual summits around the globe, but SCRS worked quickly to build virtual connectivity. While this promotes the interaction we all desire, nothing replaces the feeling of live and in-person events. Be sure to take advantage of your membership discounts and register for the SCRS Summits coming up in 2022, including the inaugural Diversity Site Solutions Summit in May!

SCRS is already planning and preparing for our largest event next fall. At the heart of every site should be the patient, because of this we are excited to announce that our 2022 site awards, including the Excellence in Patient Centricity and Christine K. Pierre Site Impact awards, are now welcoming submissions! We encourage all member sites to enter your organization or honor another site by visiting the Global Site Solutions Summit website and navigating to Agenda > Awards to make your nominations today.

In Observance of Heart Month

While the month of February includes the celebration of Valentine’s Day, let’s get to the “heart of it” and think on a more health-conscious level. In the United States and elsewhere, February is observed as Heart Month, a time to focus on heart health and bring awareness to heart disease. SCRS would like to highlight some of our members in our site community where clinicians and scientists work tirelessly to cure and treat cardiovascular diseases.

The Center for Clinical Research at the Texas Heart Institute has a highly skilled team of clinicians that conduct clinical trials involving new techniques and therapies to treat patients. These trials include testing for the safety and effectiveness of various medicines and devices. Together at THI, researchers and patients work to help diagnose, treat, and prevent medical conditions related to the heart. Advancement in this area of medicine is the everyday goal of THI!

Clearwater Cardiovascular Consultants has a dedicated Clinical Research Department that is committed to providing patients with cutting-edge treatments in cardiology. They work tirelessly to receive FDA approval of medical treatments in order to allow the public to use them effectually and safely. Volunteers who assist CCC in offering better treatments for future patients are considered heroes by the staff!

We applaud these SCRS Members for their valiant efforts in their fight against heart disease!
