FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hanover, MD, November 17, 2021 – The Society for Clinical Research Sites (SCRS) announced today that one of its Global Impact Partners, IQVIA, has become a patron-level sponsor of the SCRS Diversity Awareness Program. The Diversity Awareness Program was originally created to support research sites in meeting the goals of the FDA’s Action Plan to Enhance the Collection and Availability of Demographic Subgroup Data. Since its inception in 2017, the program has provided critical knowledge and solutions to aid sites in successfully including diverse populations in clinical research.
“SCRS is pleased to welcome IQVIA as a sponsor to the SCRS Diversity Program, and their support will help SCRS develop even more resources that will better enable research sites to engage diverse patient populations,” said SCRS’ VP of Strategy and Special Projects, Diana Foster. “We look forward to collaborating with IQVIA to further this important work that impacts the entire clinical research process.”
“IQVIA has been actively engaged with our sponsors and sites around improving diversity in clinical trials for several years, looking at both external barriers and innovative ways to adapt clinical trial approaches to improve participation, while reducing the burden on both sites and patients. It is incumbent on all of us entrusted to deliver clinical trials to enhance access and participation for historically underserved populations. We are pleased to be involved in and continue to build stronger site partnerships to aid access for these underserved populations through this important work,” said Cynthia Verst, President, Design and Delivery Innovation, IQVIA.
