September 17, 2024 – The Society for Clinical Research Sites (SCRS) is excited to announce Mural Health’s designation as a Global Impact Partner. Mural Health was founded in 2022 by Sam Whitaker (previously founder and CEO of Greenphire) to create a platform that is focused on making clinical trial participation easier for participants and caregivers. Mural’s Health’s participant management platform, Mural Link, offers advanced participant payments, travel and concierge services, site and participant communication, and reporting.
In addition to Mural Link, Mural Health leads a variety of initiatives designed to enhance the clinical trial experience for patients and caregivers through empathy-centered innovation. Mural Health led the creation, and subsequent congressional sponsorship, of The Harley Jacobsen Act. The Act was introduced to Congress in February 2024 and seeks to exclude all payments to all participants (patients and caregivers) in all approved clinical trials from being treated as taxable income. In 2023, in line with its ethos, Mural Health funded and introduced The Portrait Project, offering the world a glimpse into the personal journeys of clinical trial participants.
Joining SCRS is another step in Mural Health’s mission to relieve the trial-related burdens of participants and allow sites to focus on who matters most: patients and caregivers.
“At Mural Health, we are committed to breaking down barriers that hinder clinical trial participation, including payment complexities and discriminatory tax laws”, said Sam Whitaker, co-founder and CEO of Mural Health. “We are thrilled to join SCRS as a Global Impact Partner to drive critical conversations around these issues, enable sites and sponsors to improve the experience for their participants, and ultimately make clinical trials accessible and equitable for all.”
“Mural Health’s collaboration with SCRS as a Global Impact Partner highlights our shared commitment to advancing clinical trial accessibility and reducing administrative burden for research sites,” said Marcus Maleck, Vice President of Global Business Partnerships with SCRS. “Their team’s dedication to simplifying trial participation is making great strides to improve the efficiency and accessibility of clinical trials around the world. Mural Health’s focus on overcoming financial and logistical obstacles will significantly benefit our site community and the broader research landscape.”
