Hanover, MD, February 17, 2022 – The Society for Clinical Research Sites (SCRS), the global trade organization dedicated to representing the interests of clinical research sites, today announced Vice Admiral Jerome Adams, MD, MPH, as a Keynote Speaker for its inaugural Diversity Site Solutions Summit on May 20, 2022 in Austin, Texas.
Jerome Adams is the Chairman of the Board at Total Diversity Clinical Trial Management and Executive Director of Health Equity Initiatives at Purdue University. He formerly served as the 20th U.S. Surgeon General as a member of the President’s COVID-19 task force, where he was at the forefront of America’s most pressing health challenges throughout the pandemic.
As the keynote speaker at the SCRS Diversity Site Solutions Summit, Adams will share knowledge of best practices for diverse patient engagement. The Summit will feature critical content as regulatory and sponsor directives require more mandatory inclusion of diverse populations in trials.
Diana Foster, SCRS Diversity Awareness Program Lead commented, “SCRS is honored to have Jerome Adams as our keynote speaker for the first Diversity Site Solutions Summit. Adams’ expertise and advocacy for ensuring health equity for underrepresented populations will be instrumental to our program. We look forward to sharing solutions and best practices to establish more diverse representation in clinical trials.”
“The reality of diversity enrollment and inclusion in clinical trials is upon us. We are beyond the ‘discussion’ and must operationalize and execute strategy to better serve all individuals eligible to participate in trials, not but a few,” Adams commented.
