Dr. William B. Smith Honored with 2024 Christine K. Pierre Site Impact Award

October 9, 2024

October 10, 2024  – The Society for Clinical Research Sites (SCRS) is proud to announce William Smith, MD, as the recipient of the 2024 Christine K. Pierre Site Impact Award. The Christine K. Pierre Site Impact Award recognizes an industry leader who has made an extraordinary contribution to furthering the voice of the clinical research site community.

Dr. William B. Smith, CEO and Principal Investigator of AMR (Alliance for Multispecialty Research), has conducted over 2,000 clinical trials across phases I-IV in his 40+ year career. He has been actively involved in SCRS since its inception, serving on the Leadership Council, Global Site Solutions Summit planning committee, and Workforce Task Force. A key part of Dr. Smith’s work focuses on site sustainability by engaging and training new physicians in clinical research.

“To receive an award with Christine Pierre’s name on it is particularly special,” said Dr. Smith. “Christine and I shared the same vision to empower clinical research sites and give sites an avenue to collaborate, share and plan for sustainability. I have received awards and accolades during my 40+ year career in clinical research, but none have touched me as deeply as this award has.”

Allyson Small, SCRS Chief Operating Officer, added, “Dr. William Smith has been a steadfast advocate for SCRS and the clinical research site community throughout his career. He shared a vision with SCRS founder Christine Pierre for sites to unite and collaborate for greater impact and influence industry decisions. In line with the core pillars of SCRS—advocacy, education, connection, and mentorship—he is highly deserving of an award that honors Christine Pierre’s legacy. SCRS is proud to recognize Dr. Smith for his unwavering passion for the clinical research site community and improving the lives of patients worldwide.”

Award nominations were open to any individuals employed by an SCRS member research site. For more information on the Christine K. Pierre Site Impact Award, visit the Global Site Solutions Summit website at sitesolutionssummit.com.
