October 2022
From the SCRS Team
Wow! It’s hard to believe many of us were all together just a few short weeks ago for the 2022 Global Site Solutions Summit in Hollywood, Florida. Thank you to everyone that joined us to learn, connect and celebrate 10 years of advancing site success! We will be sharing some highlights from the 2022 Global Summit, including Site Landscape survey data, in upcoming publications, so stay tuned for those insights.
A new whitepaper is available through SCRS on Site Perspectives on Decentralized Clinical Trials. While decentralized trial (DCT) technologies have enabled patients and sites to participate in novel and innovative ways, there is a lack of qualitative and quantitative data on site perspectives on the use and implementation of these initiatives. To examine how this model has impacted site experiences, Medidata partnered with SCRS to survey its members on a variety of DCT topics, including scope, perceived effectiveness, and enablement. Understanding clinical research sites’ experiences and perspectives on DCTs will help industry stakeholders – from sponsors and clinical research organizations (CROs) to regulatory agencies – refine trial design, operational procedures, and regulatory policy to better serve patients and sites while optimizing outcomes for the global health community. Download the whitepaper below!
Up next, SCRS is excited to host our European Site Solutions Summit in Lisbon, Portugal. This will be the first time we have been together with our European community since March 2019, and we have an incredible agenda filled with thought-provoking sessions, best practice sharing, social learning, networking opportunities, and much more! We hope you’ll join us in Portugal to learn about new regulations, changes in the research landscape, and proven strategies for site sustainability. Also, don’t forget to complete the Site Landscape Survey to help SCRS gather the latest data on issues and trends impacting sites today.

Site Perspectives on Decentralized Clinical Trials
While decentralized clinical trial (DCT) technologies have enabled patients and sites to participate in novel and innovative ways, there is a lack of qualitative and quantitative data from sites on their use and implementation. Medidata collaborated with SCRS to survey sites on DCT topics, aiming to gauge the impact on sites for aspects such as scope, effectiveness, and enablement. Insights into sites' experiences with DCTs will aid stakeholders in refining trial design, operations, and regulatory policies for enhanced patient and site service and global health outcomes.

SCRS Membership Update
Just in time for the season when many people gather, I would like to extend an invitation for you to consider joining SCRS as we move forward to bring our local communities together.
The SCRS Membership Committee has taken great strides in 2022 to bring us even closer together in 2023! Literally! Our mission is to establish a forum for clinical research sites located in the same community to interact in ways that address local challenges and promote greater site sustainability.
Our hope is to unite the voice of regional clinical research sites by promoting and supporting smaller networking groups aimed at sharing local site challenges to create innovative and informative solutions. These regional meetings will be a collaborative enhancement to SCRS with the purpose of sharing operational procedures, and educational topics, while also giving attendees the ability to network professionally and personally.
In early 2023, we will be forming a committee of volunteers who are interested in sharing their time, experience, and expertise to assist in launching SCRS Regional Meetings. SCRS leads will work closely with these volunteers to drive work forward and provide direction. These volunteers will serve as Regional Chairs and assist in the determination of geographical regions, meeting locations, educational content, and social networking events.
If you would simply like to assist your area’s region chair, let us know that you would like to be involved. All interested parties will be members of the workstream and able to make regular, direct contributions to the work produced!
The Regional Meetings Initiative will take a lot of determination and communication in the months ahead, but it is our hope to build regional and local communities of SCRS Members while attracting others to join our global society of clinical research professionals.
If you are interested in participating in a regional meeting or perhaps assisting in the planning and growth of this SCRS Charter, we ask that you please fill out the online form here.
