FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hanover, MD, October 16, 2019 – The Society for Clinical Research Sites (SCRS) announced to more than 1,000 attendees at their 2019 Global Site Solutions Summit that MeDiNova Middelburg MERC and Clinstruct are the respective winners of the Site Patient Recruitment Innovation Award (SPRIA) and the Site Tank Award.
Sponsored by StudyKIK, SPRIA recognizes a research site that has developed and implemented an innovative patient recruitment program. Three finalists were chosen by an independent judging panel. After the finalists presented their plans at the Global Site Solutions Summit, the winner was chosen by a panel of judges. When assessing the plans, judges looked for innovative patient-directed initiatives that were unique, effective and took the campaign response into account.
Bhavna Iyer and Yvette Erasmus, representing MeDiNova Middelburg MERC, won SPRIA for the site’s approach to recruitment which seeks to provide their patients with a “first class” experience, thus enabling the site to meet and exceed their enrollment goal.
Sponsored by IQVIA, Site Tank recognizes a research site that has developed an innovative technology solution for clinical research. Following the finalists’ presentations at the Global Site Solutions Summit, attendees voted via “clap technology”, then the winner was chosen by a panel of judges. When assessing each presentation, judges looked for technology concepts designed to enhance, empower and improve the clinical research industry.
William Tobia, representing Clinstruct, won Site Tank with the company’s design and creation of a mobile app called My Clinical Study Guide which enables efficient, in-home research-based assessments.
“Participation in SPRIA and Site Tank is an opportunity for site excellence in patient recruitment and technological innovation to be recognized by leaders in the clinical research industry, who have come together at the Summit to make impactful change,” said SCRS director of innovation and engagement, Jimmy Bechtel. “We found all SPRIA and Site Tank submissions inspiring, and are thrilled with the direction the global site community is headed. Congratulations to MeDiNova Middelburg MERC and Clinstruct!”
This year, the audience also had the opportunity to hear presentations from 2019’s SPRIA Europe and SPRIA Asia-Pac winners, and received an update from 2016’s Site Tank winner, Greg Folz on the success of his winning idea, Kits4Life, which repurposes unused clinical trial lab kits for humanitarian aid.
The 2020 Global Site Solutions Summit will be held October 9-11, 2020 at The Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood, Florida.
