Program Sponsored by Syneos Health as Part of Commitment to Fostering Site Relationships Globally
Ellicott City, MD, June 13, 2019 – The Society for Clinical Research Sites (SCRS) announced today that it will host an SCRS Ambassador Symposium for clinical research sites at the National Taiwan University Hospital in Taipei, Taiwan via their Ambassador Program on July 21, 2019. The SCRS Ambassador Program brings SCRS member benefits of advocacy, education, mentorship and connection to clinical research sites in the region. SCRS Circle of Innovation Partner, Syneos Health, the only fully integrated biopharmaceutical company, provides participants with a two-year membership scholarship and access to educational events. The event will be an incredible opportunity for sites in Taiwan to connect and discuss clinical research best practices with other sites and representatives from industry stakeholders.
The Symposium will begin with a keynote lecture by SCRS vice president of global engagement, Dan Milam, followed by a lecture on regulatory issues from chief executive director of the Center for Drug Evaluation, Taiwan FDA, Churn-Shiouh Gau. The directors of six Ministry of Health-funded clinical trial centers will each serve as facilitators for lectures delivered by representatives from global pharmaceutical companies and CROs covering important issues such as building strong site partnership, patient enrollment, upgrading trial data retrieval/storage, and more. Chung Y. Hsu, SCRS’ Taiwan Ambassador and professor/PI at China Medical University Hospital, has provided valuable and needed support that has enabled SCRS to better reach the Taiwan site community.
The Ministry of Health Clinical Trial Center at China Medical University Hospital was proud to be the first clinical trial site in Taiwan to become an SCRS member, and to conduct the first SCRS Symposium in Taiwan in 2018. Since then, a large number of clinical research sites in Taiwan have joined SCRS.
“Through the Ambassador Program, SCRS has been able to strengthen the resources available to clinical research sites in various countries and provide education that directly addresses regional trends,” said vice president of global partnerships, Dan Milam. “SCRS is excited to have the opportunity to partner with Syneos Health and Dr. Hsu to strengthen Taiwan’s site community.”
Syneos Health has been a lead supporter of the Ambassador program since 2016, collaborating with sites to address the unique regional needs and challenges they face, ultimately improving site support and sustainability. In addition to the program in Taiwan, the Company also sponsors Ambassador programs in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and South Korea. Through the formation of two Site Advocacy Groups (SAG) focused on investigator payments and protocol design, the company is also at the forefront of working with sites to improve key aspects of clinical trial management and facilitate ongoing dialogue on operational best practices for conducting successful research.
