FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sr. Vice President of Accelerated Enrollment Solutions Joins SCRS Leadership Council

Ellicott City, MD, June 6, 2019 – Today the Society for Clinical Research Sites (SCRS) announced that Roger Smith, senior vice president and general manager of Accelerated Enrollment Solutions (AES), a business unit of global contract research organization PPD, has joined the organization’s Leadership Council. In this role, Smith will join other members of the Leadership Council, which includes sites, sponsors, CROs and professional solution providers to help guide SCRS’ strategy to carry out its mission of unifying the voice of the global clinical research site community for greater site sustainability.

Smith has more than 20 years of senior management experience in operations, marketing, product development, and technology within the clinical research space. During his tenure at AES, the organization has transformed from a small, niche player in the patient recruitment space to an acknowledged leader in accelerated, accountable enrollment solutions, offering sponsors and CROs unprecedented enrollment certainty for their most important portfolio assets. In his previous role as the head of Acurian, Smith developed proprietary patient pre-screening technology that raised the quality level of study candidates who were ultimately referred to thousands of independent and network sites worldwide, along with innovative programs to support business operations and efficiencies at the site level.

“It is an honor to be invited to join the SCRS Leadership Council,” said Smith. “I look forward to representing the voice of the sites in AES’ expansive global community, and contributing to the vision that drives SCRS’ innovation and success.”

“Roger has long been a strong advocate for SCRS as the leader of Acurian,” said SCRS president, Casey Orvin. “Now with Roger at the helm of the industry’s largest site community represented by AES, we know that his support of SCRS and the site community will only grow. Roger’s unique perspective and knowledge of the industry as it pertains to site operations and patient enrollment will be an invaluable asset to the Leadership Council.”
